DataPrompter 2007 Raises the Bar on Productivity

One of the oldest and most popular add-ins ever created for Microsoft Word has been upgraded for 2007 with a number of new productivity features designed to speed your work and improve the quality of your documents.

DataPrompter 2007 is compatible with Word 2000, Word 2002, and Word 2003, but when used with Word 2007, DataPrompter 2007 fully supports Word's new ribbon interface. (Click the ribbon to see it at full size.)

DataPrompter 2007 now includes an integrated spell check function. Simply fill in the datafields and then choose Spelling.... and let DataPrompter do the rest.

If you've ever wanted to keep a record of all the DataFields in a given document (or the current values of those DataFields), simply open any document or template that contains one or more DataFields, then choose DataPrompter Options and click List DataFields.

Assembling boilerplate items into a new document is as easy as ever, but now you can edit your assembly lists faster than ever, with fewer clicks than before. Also, now you can set the Copies count for a given boilerplate item to zero. Later, if you change your mind, simply reassemble the document and increment the Copies count to one or as many copies as desired.

If you've already set up some DataFields in a document, you can import into a new document as many or as few of them as desired. Simply choose Create/Modify DataField and then choose Import... and select the document that you want to import from. Import a single DataField, all of the DataFields, or as many DataFields as needed.

IMPORTANT! DataPrompter 2007 contains special code to protect your DataPrompter documents against the data-loss bug in Word 2007. (This bug cannot safely be ignored, since it causes Word 2007 to discard characters of data from internal storage locations within your documents.)

DataPrompter 2007 offers full compatibility with Office 2007's new file formats as well as with older Word formats going back to Word 2000. For more information, click here.

PC World Names DataPrompter one of its Most Popular Utilities

PC World Magazine has named the DataPrompter addin for Word one of its most popular utilities. The magazine recommended the program for "forms, letters, and documents you need to crank out quickly and accurately" and credited the program for making it "easier and faster to write or edit documents--even large numbers of subtly different ones." The magazine said that the DataPrompter addin "prompts you for text, addresses, dates, and more that you can store in textboxes, drop-down lists, or checkboxes," adding that DataPrompter helps users "switch gendered pronouns, numbers, and verb tense to customize each doc and import data from other documents and from Microsoft Outlook."

Office of the President licenses DataPrompter

The United States Government, Office of Administration, Executive Office of the President, has licensed DataPrompter for use with routine documents where format and content are standardized but changes are needed on a daily basis. The DataPrompter software automatically prompts users to enter needed data, then inserts the data into the documents where needed. Later, if the data needs to be changed, the DataPrompter software updates the data accurately and consistently throughout each document or family of documents.

State of Arizona Attorney General licenses DataPrompter

The State of Arizona Attorney General's Office has licensed DataPrompter for use by more than 900 users. The software will be used for a variety of standardized legal documents to enable users to quickly change variable data throughout each document.

Announcing DataPrompter 2003!

Wordsite released DataPrompter 2003 and identified several new features that extend the power of the program while preserving its popular reputation for ease-of-use and a near-zero learning curve.

DataPrompter 2003 now displays a list of all the items included in a document and lets you add or delete items and change the order of items as needed.

As always, DataPrompter 2003 prompts you to update any data that might have changed since the document or template was last used. And now DataPrompter can assemble or reassemble each document as many times as desired, in as many ways as desired, all at the click of a button.

DataFields can now be inserted into a document using a find-text-and-replace-it-with-a-DataField command. This allows existing documents to be converted to DataPrompter-enabled documents with just a few clicks of a mouse. For example, an existing client letter can be converted instantly to a DataPrompter-enabled letter by searching the letter for all instances of the client's name and replacing each instance with a [Client Name] DataField.

The DataPrompter dialog now allows users to import data from an existing document into a new document, so data never has to be rekeyed into a new document. This feature allows as many documents as needed to receive data from a single datasource document. For example, a will, a trust document, and a codicil could all import the client's name and other information from a single Client Data document.

DataPrompter can now run a macro every time the user shows the DataPrompter dialog box. This allows authors to extend the capability of the DataPrompter program. For example, a macro could spellcheck the document every time the user shows the DataPrompter dialog box. This capability requires that the author have minimal familiarity with macros. Users can benefit from the macro without any specialized expertise.
